Rise 'n' Shine Cuisine (Windsor)

As I promised my most faithful reader, this weekend we checked out Rise 'n' Shine Cuisine on Tecumseh Road for the first time.

The place has been given a major renovation since it was a dark little waffle house. All tables benefit from the fact that two entire sides of the space are banked with large windows. The front bay of tables also enjoys a large skylight overhead. There are no interior walls separating the sections, only large pillars, so sunshine floods the place. Our server pointed out that we could pull down the shade next to our table if we found it to be too warm or sunny, which--after this seemingly eternal winter--we definitely did not do.

Besides being light and cheery, Rise 'n' Shine offers prompt, friendly service.

While a standard 2-egg breakfast was a bit more than the $5 we've paid everywhere else, the buffet was a good deal at $11.99 per adult (weekdays $8.99).  It includes pancakes, French toast, waffles, little crepes with whipped cream and fruit compote, a do-it-yourself omelet station, baked beans, bacon, sausage, fruit next to a chocolate fountain, eggs Benedict (they'll bring you more Hollandaise sauce if you need it), scrambled eggs, pastries, home fries, hash browns, potato puffs, and probably a lot more stuff that I'm forgetting or didn't notice.

The bottomless cup of coffee is $1.69.  We left feeling quite satisfied and will probably go back.
